Anthea Oestreicher is a multidisciplinary designer and (non)scientist, using design as a tool to explore the entanglements between systems and living beings. Navigating the boundaries of art, science, and the humanities, her research focuses on plankton, both within and beyond the scientific realm.
Her research, conducted during fellowships at institutions such as the KIT Institute of Bioengineering and the BioDesignLab of HfG Karlsruhe, exemplifies how art, design and their methodologies can reveal and intervene in these complex interactions. Through participatory experiences, video works, crafts, and written pieces, she demonstrates her commitment to advancing our understanding of the sympoeitic relationships that shape the world. Utilizing creative design approaches she searches for ways to wit(h)ness and vegetalize sensory perceptions to engage with these vital entanglements.
